The Lucena City District Jail conducted the Post-Valentine’s Day Concert for a Cause, titled “Tinig ng Puso: Pag-ibig at Pag-asa ng mga PDL.” The event, sponsored by the BJMP Pensioners and Retirees Association Inc. (BJMP-PRAI) under the leadership of CINSP Liza I. Valentino (Ret.), provided a platform for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) to showcase their talents in singing, music, acting, and dancing.
The concert is part of the Therapeutic Community Modality Program, aimed at promoting emotional healing, self-confidence, and positive values among the participants. In preparation for the performances, Ms. Marrian Odette Garcia, owner of Vocal and Chords Music School, conducted a free workshop to help the PDL refine their skills.
The program was overseen by JSINP Arvin P. Andojar, Male Dormitory Warden, and JSINP Allain M. Abastillas, Female Dormitory Warden, with support from Unit Welfare and Development Officers JO2 Jessica Marquez and JO2 Donna Santiago, along with other jail personnel.
Donations and proceeds from the concert benefited the PDL and their visitors who purchased tickets, including the provision of sports equipment for the male and female PDL, a printer for the unit, and grocery items distributed through a raffle draw.
The concert successfully fostered camaraderie, hope, and community engagement, highlighting the BJMP’s continued commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration of PDL. This initiative demonstrates the positive impact of structured programs in supporting the social and emotional well-being of incarcerated individuals.
