LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines — The first-ever sports activity of the newly formed Quezon Media Sports Club officially kicked off through the Quezon PPO–Media Sportsfest 2026, held at Camp BGen Guillermo P. Nakar in Lucena City, with the participation of the Quezon Police Provincial Office led by Col. Romulo A. Albacea.
The event gathered police personnel and media practitioners in a day of friendly competition aimed at strengthening camaraderie, fostering unity, and promoting sportsmanship between members of the press and law enforcement community in the province.
According to Quezon Media Sports Club President Mr. Gemi Formaran, the initiative reflects the group’s broader commitment not only to media excellence but also to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle through sports.
“Again, kami po sa Quezon ay hindi lang pang-Media, kundi pang-Sports pa,” Formaran said, emphasizing the group’s enthusiasm in expanding its engagement beyond journalism into physical and recreational activities that build stronger professional relationships.
The sportsfest featured various team-oriented games and activities designed to encourage interaction beyond official duties, allowing participants to build rapport and mutual understanding in a more relaxed and collaborative environment.
Col. Albacea, for his part, underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships between the police force and media practitioners in advancing public service and community development.
The event marks the beginning of what organizers hope will be stronger collaborations and more meaningful engagements between the Quezon PPO and the media sector—both on and off the field—as part of ongoing efforts to promote trust, cooperation, and unity in the province.
